Mani's Bakery

Chocolate, wer'e talking dark, and Carrot cupcakes are the choices at Mani's Bakery. The chocolate frosting is thick and decadent - a dark robust flavor; a thick creamy bittersweet frosting paste forms a hat atop the cake. The cake itself is minimalist in decadence. It is denser than most cupcakes in body and maybe weight. A warm drink is a solid compliment. My foodie mate and I agree on the carrot cake frosting. It's quite the welcoming nurturer. A sour sweet creamy almost pudding like blossom floates atop a full bodied carrot raisin cake in a cup. Very moist, very dense and very tasty and nurturing. Check out Mani's Bakery on Fairfax, they have a full bakery and restaurant and stay open until midnight!! yay~ xoxoxod&c

Trader Joes Bakery

We discovered chocolate and vanilla cupcakes in the bakery department in trader joes! I thought no way. Got them home, the kids loved em. We sampled the chocolate and were compelled to try vanilla. A pleasant suprise of light fluffy cake with generous frosted tops. A great dessert in a pinch, when home-made ideas are low on time in the datebook. Try em-- they are delightful! xoxoxd&c

Sprinkles Cupcakes

Who could have known a cupcake would delight ones soul down to her and her toes. These lil cake-cups are no 'wanna be's. Sprinkles is keeping it real. These morsels of heaven melt on contact. Oh my godd -can i just say the frosting rocks the house of the dessert gods. I can't believe we waited this long to try Sprinkles cupcakes.. but we thought it was hype. You know the BH location, and all the star speckled notoriety..... well forgetta about it people.. BH or not,,, celeb associations can kiss our foodie booty's-- these cakes in a cup are the yummiest love on contact most any palate could have. The critique: they wouldn't let us take any photos of these pretty little sugar clouds --in the store. You'd think Pastry Chef Candace Nelson would like the press--what's up with that?! Sprinkles photo limits didn't scare us away. We brought home grandmas inspired treats and took the pics anyway-- check em out, but do not carry a camera into the bakery unless you plan on getting pounced on by the Sprinkles Cupcake Strike Team. The sweet-tooth prevails.~oxoxo d&c
